Gerecse KD-005

Yesterday we were at the top of the Gerecse mountain. The weather was pretty windy on the geodesic tower where we set up our QTH, and unfortunately our CQs were seldom successful, looked like not too many people sat in front of their radios around that hour when we were there. We only made about 4 QSOs.

On our way back we met HA5CBM Miki and the kids. He invited us to the HA5KDR radio amateur station. He was very kind, a big thank you to him for showing us the station!

Shure FP24

This is my latest purchase on ebay, a very nice portable microphone preamp/mixer. I’ve just brought it home an hour ago.

I’ll use it mainly for my camera, but I’m also planning to record acoustic guitar and other instruments with it.

You can find the plans and specs for this antenna here. No balun needed, 50 ohms at once, works perfectly fine. I’m using it on a 4m long (telescopic) landing net pole.

Dobogókő

On last Sunday, we went to the KM-005 SOTA summit with Mozsó (HA2PIC), Gabesz (HA2SZG), Noybi (HA1TN), AI3iT and their girlfriends to have a picnic, test our new portable antennas and have some QSOs. The weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time.

Noybi and I were the HF squad, Mozsó worked the VHF stations. We didn’t make too much QSOs, as we didn’t focus on that part, most of the time we only talked, ate and had fun. :)

Noybi brought a 9m vertical made from aluminium tubes with four 10m long ground plane wires, for which we didn’t have enough space on the balcony so we dropped them down to the abyss. It worked nice from 80 through 10 meters (for 28 megs it was a bit long, we couldn’t tune it under 1.5). My new portable VHF yagi worked great as well, I’ll blog about it soon.

W3DZZ take two

I still don’t have my HF antenna up… :( Spring is here, and my dad had some free time on the weekend, so we started to prepare the place where the steel pole will be standing in the corner of the croft.

After breaking up the concrete we put down a grounding pole for lightning protection, and filled it up with a new layer of concrete.

The next step is to build a scaffold in the neighbor’s garden, open the roof and erect the pole…

Read the previous post about my W3DZZ antenna here. The next post is here.

Geocaching without the need of a GPS! :) We’ve been at this place in November, so it was quite easy to find the crate.

We bought some candies and chips and sat on a bench at the lake. Maybe I’ll post the few shots I made with the camera.

Just a short walk in the forest with BlooD2oo1 on the first day of spring here in Hungary.

Dreamport 009

It’s been a long time since I made a mix, so here’s the new one, a special compilation featuring tracks only from one of my favorite composers, Alan Menken.

Well, if you haven’t heard his name, you’ve heard his music for sure, because he done the scores of Disney’s most well-known animated films. Yes, Dreamport 009 is Disney music… :)

I used orchestrated tracks mainly from my favorite scores: Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast.

I hope you’ll enjoy this mix as much as I did when I made it. (This took me about 5 days, about 3 hours each day, the most time I’ve ever spent working on a mix!)

Please leave your feedback in the comments! And thanks for listening.
