Simple and beautiful acoustic folk music, with vocals, acoustic guitars, field recording and some sampling only. Zoe’s voice and the songs are extremely beautiful, my favorites are The Sky, Crazy English Summer and the last track called So Much and Nothing.
The booklet and album cover are very funny, Zoe took pictures (I think) around her house.
I can’t say anything more about this album, check out Zoe’s Myspace page and buy the music (I bought it on eBay). Oh, and read this good interview with her here.
I would like to recommend you some very inspiring music from a guy called Henrik José, also releasing music under the name Bliss (but it’s not the danish Bliss, who made Quiet Letters and Afterlife and They Made History).
Henrik José’s music reminds me of the best Fasttracker II demoscene music. However, his latest music is more acoustical, with vocals and guitars. If you like Ulrich Schnauss, be sure to check this out.
You can download lots of his music for free from his homepage, www.henrikjose.com, and here’s a direct link for all of his music in one .rar file.
For a few weeks I started to improve my guitar skills, mainly using a very nice app called Guitar Speed Trainer. I enjoy practicing with this program very much, and I felt that my speed improved just in a week since I started using it, so I recommend this for all guitar players who are not so quick yet to play those fast licks.
If you like lounge music with a pop-rock feeling and vocals, very good sounding instruments and perfect mastering, listen to this album. You may already have heard the track called Holding On, because it appeared on lots of chillout selection CDs.
I’ve bought this album on eBay, from Hong Kong or Singapore, I can’t remember exactly, but Amazon offers it as well.
Don’t listen to this in MP3, this music would be ruined by lossy compression!
I’ve translated the EAC grab howto so it is now available in english (and hungarian).
I’ve had all Hammock releases in FLAC except for this EP called Stranded Under Endless Sky, so I decided to buy it because I think it’s the best Hammock release so far (even better than Kenotic).
The last two tracks are absolutely sad and wonderful, if you like not completely electronic ambient music, you have to hear it. These tracks are in the top 5 of the world’s most beautiful songs, full of emotions and magic, I can’t even describe it.
The album’s cover perfectly matches the music, those winter scenes with the bald trees in black & white… I like when artists try to express emotions not only in music, but on covers as well.
If you don’t know Hammock (you should, my 2nd Dreamport mix contains the track called An Empty Field), and you like quality ambient music, electric guitar, beautiful pad synths, classical instruments and heart beating drums then you definitely have to listen to it here and here and buy Kenotic or this EP here.
You might know Omaya from the 2nd CD of the 25th Anniversary Café Del Mar album, their beautiful song Novo featured there. My 7th Dreamport mix also contains this little melodic trip to Africa.
My favorite track from the album is I Wanna Be With You and – of course – Novo. Don’t forget to prelisten these here. I’ve had the former track in mp3 for about a year, but (I don’t know why) I thought it’s called Velvet, which is another track’s title from the album. I must admit that I bought this because of these 2 songs, I love them and wanted them in lossless quality.
The other tracks are mostly fine lounge and nu-jazz pieces, not so good as the 2 tracks mentioned above, I think I shall continue to stick with Mystic Diversions in this genre. :) Oh, and I love the last (ambient) track too, interestingly called Introduction.
The cover is a bit dull and does not match the feeling of the album, but at least the lyrics are printed there.
I’ve bought 3 Sans Arc albums (When Eye Meets Eye, Ghostlike and Irradiate – covers on the right) from www.thegaiaproject.com. They have a simple and useful webshop, I could pay with PayPal.
The package arrived yesterday and I was very surprised, because they sent me a bunch of gifts amongst the CDs – 2 very nice little origamis, candies, a chewing gum, a sticker, a postcard and other cards, and the whole bag had vanilla aroma. These funny gifts made me very very happy, it was very nice, thanks for the guys at The Gaia Project.
Sans Arc makes really beautiful music full of emotions, and that’s why I love music, and Sans Arc – for bringing me back old memories and beautiful moments of my life. There is a good review here if you are not familiar with the performer (my 5th Dreamport mix starts with a Sans Arc song).
I simply can’t tell you which is my favorite track from the albums, because most of them is so uniquely beautiful, I can’t pick just one out.

Huh, I should write something, because 2007 had passed and I haven’t wrote a single post since that, only updated WordPress to 2.3.2 this evening.
So I’m not dead, just the university keeps me busy, and I don’t have time & energy to do anything useful to write about.
Instead of tinkering audio stuff and mixes, I’ve bought a few CDs in the recent past, so I decided to write something about them one by one. I think you might find these little reviews interesting, to get some hints for good music. :)
Let’s start with Sans Arc.
