My field recording gear
Last modified: November 8th, 2011Microphone & blimp
I’m using a Rode NT4 stereo condenser microphone with a homemade blimp.
You can find more pics here.
Preamp
Now I’m using a Shure FP-24, but here’s how my old custom built Green mic pre looked like. You can find schematics and other info about it here.
It’s sound is amazing, has very low noise, huge amplification (60dB!) and it is very easy to build. Download Autocad schematics and other stuff for this project here. More pics about my preamp are here.
Recorder
I’m using an M-Audio MicroTrack. It’s a crude little device, a bit uncomfortable, but it does it’s job perfectly. I’ve needed the Green mic pre because the MicroTrack’s built-in preamp is as noisy as hell, and has little amplification.
Headphones
I’m using a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro for my studio and field recording work, alongside my AKG k240’s. Beyer sounds amazing and it is very compact and comfortable.
